Manheimer to pay $10,000 in slush fund case

Former Navajo Nation Council Delegate Lena Manheimer had her day in court on Tuesday.
Manheimer came up for sentencing before Window Rock District Court Judge Carol Perry after pleading no contest to a charge of conspiracy in a scheme to misuse funds from the tribal discretionary fund.
She was ordered to put in writing that she agreed to pay restitution in the amount of $10,000 at the rate of 233.77 every two weeks.
Manheimer, through her attorney, agreed that instead of a written apology to her chapters, as all of the other former council delegates who pleaded guilty had to do, she would make her apology to her chapters in person.
Another former council delegate, George Arthur, was also scheduled to have been sentenced on Tuesday but court officials said his case was continued.
