First-year coach Gabrielle Whitney likes what she sees in her Window Rock girls’ basketball team.

The Hopi teams played their first conference game at home on Tuesday night in Hopi Junior Senior High’s gymnasium against St. Johns. The Hopi girls came short as St. Johns won 60-25. However, the Hopi boys pulled out a close win with 50-44.

The Farmington girls’ basketball team missed its first nine shots from beyond the three-point line on Saturday night.

On Monday night the Monument Valley Mustangs played their first game in almost two years as they went up against the Many Farms Lobos.

Coming off a Final Four run last year, the Navajo Prep boys’ basketball team is hoping to pick up where they left off.
