Despite being undersized the Lady Bengals (12-1) posted a 53-51 win over Highland in a 4-5 matchup as the Albuquerque team boasted three players over 6-1.

Of the four teams, the Tohatchi girls pulled off a stunner as the Lady Cougars upset No. 2 seed West Las Vegas 61-50 at Bernalillo High School.

The top-seeded Lady Eagles are looking to defend their state titles as they open the playoffs with district foe Thoreau at 6 p.m. tonight.

The Lynx hosts No. 8 Monte Del Sol Charter, a Santa Fe school, at 5 p.m. tonight.

The two-point win earned the Lynx the District 1-2A title and a spot in next week’s New Mexico Class 2A state basketball playoffs, which starts on Monday.
