The recent COVID-19 epidemic, which is still affecting tribal members on the reservation and outside of the reservation, has shown several problems with the tribe’s emergency preparation for a large-scale crisis that could occur outside of the reservation.

Too often, we are quick to point fingers at the Indian Health Service and its workers for not helping our people gain access to basic health care. Often we do not appreciate our teachers for the sacrifices and commitments they have made.

This is a letter to President Jonathan Nez, Vice President Myron Lizer, and the leaders of the Navajo Nation to say, thank you for the CARES Act money distribution to the Navajo people.
