In a small corner of the president’s office, you may come across one of the best-kept secrets: Elmer P. Begay, a special staff assistant.
Begay was hired in 2017 as an advisor for cultural preservation and traditional protocols.
A modest Begay today says that everything he knows comes from traditional Navajo teachings and stories given to him by the “elderlies and hataaliis.”
He is a seasoned chapter official and two-time Council delegate (Dilkon/Indian Wells/Teesto/Whitecone/Greasewood Springs) who was just elected for another term to begin in January.
